Tour Course

Itinerary:

Day 1: Rothenburg - Individual arrival
Tour information and handing over of bicycles. In the evening take a stroll through the singular medieval old town. Enjoy the interesting buildings, places, fountains and the remarkable Jewish history.

Day 2: Rothenburg – Mulfingen/Surroundings (approx. 49 km hills, rivers)
An idyllic start in Rothenburg, you cycle on the banks of the river Tauber past medieval mills and little towns and enjoy a wonderful view on the hilly Frankish landscape. The “Burgenweg” brings you to the river Jagst. The day ends in Mulfingen.

Day 3: Mulfingen/Surroundings – Möckmühl/Surroundings (approx. 51 km river landscape)
On you follow the Jagst through the valley „Schöntal“ – literally meaning „Beautiful valley“. The landscape rightfully deserves this name with a lovely pasture. You can visit the Zisterziensian monastery, where you will find traces of the famous Götz von Berlichingen, before you cycle through a number of small villages and reach the day's destination with Möckmühl.

Day 4: Möckmühl/Surroundings - Mosbach (approx. 37 km river landscape)
From Möckmühl you follow again the course of the Jagst until you reach the mouth to the Neckar. On the opposite bank the imposing Bad Wimpfen is situated. Here you see the Roman “Wimpfener Heaven of Gods” as well as the largest old emperors castle north of the Alps.

Day 5: Mosbach - Hirschhorn (approx. 52 km river landscape)
This part of the tour is especially remarkable for the beautiful landscape. The Neckar winds an idyllic way through the mountains of the Odenwald and many lush meadows. You cycle past dreamy little towns, characterised by many half timbered houses and idyllic places. On the hills of the mountains a number of old fortresses look down on the valley, enhancing the fairy-tale character of the tour.

Day 6: Hirschhorn – Heidelberg (approx. 30 km river landscape)
Today we cycle only a quite short distance. So enough time remains to enjoy the beauties of Heidelberg. The ensemble of the castle, the old town and the river, embedded into the mountainside makes Heidelberg one of the most beautiful cities of Germany. Here also the oldest university of Germany (since 1386) is situated.

Day 7: Individual departure or Heidelberg – Neustadt/Weinstrasse (approx. 50 km)
This extension of the tour rewards you with further highlights. The first part brings you conveniently through the Rhine plains to Schwetzingen. Here a visit of the well known residence is worth a while. After crossing the Rhine you reach the dome-city Speyer and further on the Wine-Street.

Day 8: Individual departure or extension of the stay
Enjoy.
