Krakow & South Poland National ParksKrakow – the old capital of Poland and „the“ cultural metropolis. The city is situated on the river Weichsel and offers the special flair of an intact medieval old town (UNESCO World Heritage of Culture), the castle Wawel, seat of the Polish Kings. Krakow has an easy-going way of life, almost as a small town. You can loose yourself in the maze of little passages and experience lived history. Apart from history and culture you also encounter native nature of three national parks; in Ojców the bizarre lime-stone formation, the majestic Tatra – the only mountain massive in this part of Europe with alpine character, inhabited by a very special people and - last but not least - the Pienjny-massive, with the spectacular break-through of the river Dunajec. The balance between nature and culture offers you insight into the past and presence of a very interesting region of Poland.

Around 4 p.m. you meet the local tour guide, showing you the most important treasures of the old capital, as e.g. the huge market-place, the cloth-mongers halls, the church of St. Mary, the university and the most beautiful corners of Kazimierz, where the film “Schindler’s List” was taken (duration approx. 2 hours). Accommodation in Krakow.

Day 3: (Monday) Krakow – Ojcow (approx. 45 km)

Have your lunch on the terrace of the restaurant with a scenic view on the surroundings. Accommodations in a snug family run boarding house in Ojców.

Day 4: (Tuesday) Ojcow – Zakopane (approx. 55 km)
After breakfast a bus carries you into the direction Zakopane, the Polish winter-metropolis. In Sieniawa the next part of your cycling tour starts. On small side roads you pedal through little towns on the river Dunajec and enjoy the view of the Tatra. Lunch break e.g. in a pub in Chocholów, a living open-air museum with many block-houses in regional style.
