Everybody who loves a bicycle tour through a soft hilly
landscape and idyllic towns, embedded in-between mountains and lakes
is going to enjoy this hike through the Bavarian Chiemgau. The guest
meets with open-minded people that have spelled hospitality with a capital
H. The warmth of the small towns is a real trump card. Impressions of
a special intensity stay with you.
You are confronted with an important historical past, because this is
where Celts, Romans and the Bavarians used to live; from here Salzburg’s
archbishops and the Bavarian dukes have influenced the
course of history. Put the bicycle aside once in a while to take a look
at excavations sites,
fortresses out of the Middle Ages, gothic chapels and monasteries.Of
course a tour of the festival city Salzburg, starting and ending point
of the tour, completes the experience.
Well maintained bicycle paths will take you on a tour through a part of
traditional Bavarian culture – the traditions and the cuisine. It
is not required to have a special physical fitness, rather to have an
interest in originality and authenticity. Then the tour around the Bavarian
Sea (Chiemsee – Lake Chiem) will be an unforgettable experience.
Usually hilly, mainly easy for cycling. Partly
bicycle paths, mainly meadow paths and sometimes side roads. A few
short distances on traffic roads.
