The Emilia Romagna - that is the perfect place for everybody
who likes to enjoy a nice glass of wine, the famous ham from Parma and
other culinary highlights, together with the flair of traditional and
cultural towns. Characterized by the great plain of the river Po and
the northern mountains of the Appenin, the Emilia Romagna belongs to
the richest regions of Italy.
Starting in Verona the bicycle tour covers towns as Mantua, Ferrara and
Bologna, where you can visit the oldest Italian university and afterwards
relax with the excellent food of the best cuisine of South Europe. This
trip indulges all your senses!
The tour is mainly flat up though occasionally
slighty hilly. You bike on cycle-paths, side roads and sometimes on
country lanes. When you are going into or out of town you have to reckon
with a bit heavy traffic.

By minibus to Verona, costs per person €35 bike included (reservation
necessary, payable on spot).
Itinerary:
Day 1: Individual arrival at Verona
Handing over of bicycles, tour information, guided
group tour: city tour.
Day 2:
Verona – Manta (approx. 65 km)
From Verona you cycle over softly
undulating hills into the direction of Lake Garda.
We cross the wine-growing area of Custozza and Lugana
and follow the course of the Mincio, southwards to
Mantua, the city of the Gonzagas.
Day 3:
Mantua – Brescelloapprox. 50 km (approx. 50 km)
Today we cycle into the „Bassa“ home
of famous Don Camillo and Peppone. This part of Italy
is characterised by intensive agriculture. We cycle
along large fields of melons and sunflowers, kiwi and
tomatoes.Today's destination is the town of Brescello,
near the river Po. Here the famous film “Don
Camillo and Peppone” was taken with Fernandel
and Cervi. Even nowadays, 50 years after the premiere,
the village breathes the flair of the two endearing
squabblers.
Day 4: Brescello – Parma
(approx. 40 km)
In the morning we follow the
Po cycle path to Colorno, a charming village with the
summer residence of the Farnese clan. From here the
river Parma accompanies us to the city of Parma. Cultural
and culinary highlights induce visitors to visit the
city of Barilla and Bertolucci. Guided group tour:

Day
5: Parma – Reggio (approx. 50 km)
Today we get a taste of the Apennin,
a lovely, slightly hilly countryside is waiting for
us to be discovered. On small country roads we cycle
near Canossa and finally to Reggio nell'Emilia, home
of the famous Parmesan cheese and of the most famous
theatre of Italy.
Day 6: Reggio – Bologna
(approx. 65 km)
Leaving Reggio we cycle to the
economical centre of the Emilia Romagna to Modena with
an enchanting plaza. The cars of Ferrari, the voice
of Pavarotti and the delicious aceto balsamico originate
in Modena. Cycling on side roads through sleepy little
towns we reach San Giovanni. Here we take the train

Day 7:
Bologna – Ferrara (approx. 60 km)
Leaving Bologna, the capital
of the Emilia Romagna on country roads, wending between
orchards, we reach Ferrara. The famous Dukes of Ferrara
spent a lot of effort to make this town to the most
beautiful between Firence and Venice.
